Change role navigation and feature access
Update a role’s visible Hub features and sidebar layout from one controlled workspace.
Before you start
- •Target role identified
- •Business owner approval for access change
You will finish with
- •The intended role sees and can access the correct features in the intended order.
Safety and data checks
- • Access and layout changes affect every user with the selected role immediately.
Complete the task
- 1Navigate
Open Navigation & Access
Use Settings search for navigation or access and open the role-based feature matrix and sidebar layout section.
- 2Choose an option
Select the target role
Choose Office Admin or Technician and confirm the page is not showing a different role’s access or layout.
- 3Verify
Change feature access deliberately
Enable or disable only the intended feature, reading dependencies and child items before applying the change.
- 4Verify
Adjust menu layout separately
Rename, order, group, or hide navigation presentation without confusing layout visibility with actual route authorization.
- 5Verify
Review the complete role result
Scan every group and child item for accidental access loss, orphaned children, or newly exposed administrative tools.
- 6Verify
Save and view as the role
Save once, use View As or a safe role session, and confirm both navigation visibility and direct route access behave as intended.
If something does not look right
The expected button or field is not visible.
Confirm the record status, your role, and the selected tab; unavailable actions are often intentionally gated by those conditions.
